I will be speaking at the upcoming PHP|tek conference which will be taking place in Chicago on the 16th-18th of May.
I will be presenting two talks. The first talk will be on Search Engine Optimisation and Website Accessiblity. In this talk we will be examining several websites through the eyes of a search engine and a screen reader.
The second talk will be an extension of the talk I gave at ZendCon on Upgrading to PHP5 with Style. This presentations skips some of the extremely technical aspects of PHP5 and focuses on the new aspects and features available in PHP5. Both of my talks will be based on experience and knowledge gained while working with the HedgeCo Hedge Fund Website team.
This will be my first PHP|Architect conference, and I’m looking forward to meeting up with some of the other distinguished speakers who will be presenting as well.
This is a short annoucement to welcome Aaron Connelly to the HedgeCo Hedge Fund Websites team.
AaronC (founder of ACJavascripts.com and Cytech-Services.com) has been working with us for the past few months providing his expert services to help with the influx of work which we have had. However, due to the increased in business preceeding the official launch of HedgeCoWebsites.com we are taking him on full time. AaronC will be working in our deployment and support department, and will be working with our clients in the final phases of deploying their Hedge Fund websites.
We look forward to working with AaronC, and if we’re lucky we might even convince him to drop in here to blog every now and then!

This year ZendCon was held in the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, California. After driving down from LA with Jon Bauer, I called ahead to make sure that we meet up with some of the other guys for the obligatory pre-conference dinner.
As always, for regular speakers the conferences are more about meeting up with other developers than the conference sessions themselves. This being my first US-based PHP conference I was happy to finally meet up with some of my friends, many of whom I’m communicated with over the last few years but hadn’t had the opportunity to meet in person. One of the highlights of this conference was the extensive expo floor and the wealth of companies that were exhibiting.
